Several states could therefore experience heavy to very heavy rainfall through the Independence Day period around August 14-15.

A cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal is expected to develop into a low-pressure area around August 12.

Odisha, in particular, is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall between August 12 and 15.

Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Face Intense Rain

The existing weather system over north Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas is expected to keep rainfall activity elevated across central and northwestern India.

Eastern Rajasthan could receive very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in some areas, while western Rajasthan may experience heavy showers around August 11-12.

In Madhya Pradesh, western districts could see heavy rainfall through August 12. Parts of eastern Madhya Pradesh may continue receiving significant rainfall until around August 16.

Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha are also likely to experience active monsoon conditions during this period.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Alert

The Himalayan region remains particularly vulnerable because prolonged rainfall can increase the risk of landslides, flash floods and falling rocks.

After spells of rain earlier in the week, another increase in rainfall activity is expected around August 13. Parts of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand could receive heavy showers.

Urban areas could face temporary waterlogging and traffic disruption if intense rain occurs over a short period.

Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand Could See Heavy Showers

Eastern India is likely to become another major focus of the monsoon as the Bay of Bengal system develops.

According to the forecast cited in the report, Odisha may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall from August 12-15, while Jharkhand could see heavy rain between August 12 and 16.

Parts of Bihar may experience heavy rainfall from August 13-16.
